Mehret Teklebirhan

I was a student at Ethio-Canadian Cultural academy Inc from 2017-2021.
As a newcomer to Canada, at an early age, I love learning and involve in the Ethio-Canadian Cultural Academy Inc( ECCAL) programs in different programs as a student. They helped me to Maths, English reading and writing learn English, Amharic, Welayeta, and Oromo Language and share my Tigrinya language, with other students. I love to play soccer and I was playing soccer as team and learn basketball in ECCAI classes. I was shay and learn to be in drama Game, swim, and teamwork, Maths, Dances, and develop my communicant adaptability, and skills I got from Ethio-Canadian Cultural Academy.

1. Improve Language Skills: English language is not my first language, and enrolling in language classes at the ECCAI improves my English and my confidence.

2. This understanding motivated me to pursue further my education,

3. Dances, music, Fun, and Adventure: experience a sense of adventure and excitement. going to a summer camp involves outdoor activities and new experiences.

4. Summer Vibes: Enjoy the pleasant weather and take part in activities unique to the season. This can create a laid-back and enjoyable environment.

5. Independence: it gives me a taste of independence and responsibility, much like I experienced Canadian culture during my youth when staring to explore the world on my own.

Overall, my first Canadian summer camp provides a refreshing break , offering a chance to rekindle he positive aspects of youth. Embrace the opportunities it brings, make the most of my me, and enjoy the journey of rediscovering youthfulness during me participation with ECCAI.

From 2022- 2023 I started volunteering at the age of 13 years with my school Ethio-Canadian Cultural Academy Inc.
1. Volunteer at ECCAI and extracurricular activities and have participated in transferable skills Cultural Exchange: For immigrant youth, summer jobs can facilitate cultural exchange and integration into the local community. Interacting with coworkers and customers from diverse backgrounds can be enriching.
2. Critical Thinking Skills: Overcoming challenges that arise in my volunteering me and developing critical thinking skills. Learning to manage unexpected situations fosters adaptability and resilience.
3. Time-Limited Commitment: my volunteering me at Ethio-Canadian Cultural Academy Inc allows me to gain work experience without coming to long-term employment. It provides a flexible way to learn and practice during school breaks.

4. Appreciation for Education: I come to appreciate the value of education even more experiencing the demands of the volunteer working world. This understanding can motivate them to pursue further education or career advancement.
Overall, the summer of 2023 was a formative experience for me, offering practical skills, personal growth, and exposure. Being a student for over five years and volunteering at Ethio-Canadian Cultural Academy Inc has taught me many things, including how to be a collaborator flexible, and understanding, I also learn how to manage my me. Seeing, learning something new, and knowing that I was a part of children’s growth is highly empowering and will make me feel immensely proud. I am incredibly grateful and pleased to have had this opportunity." It shapes my attitude toward future education and provides a solid foundation for my future journey.

I have learned so much, and I believe that this experience will benefit me in my professional journey.

I am particularly grateful for the warm and welcoming atmosphere that I encountered during my time as a volunteer. Your team's willingness to share knowledge, answer questions, and involve me in meaningful projects made me feel like a valued member of the team.
