what should i wear?
You can wear anything that makes you feel comfortable—jeans, T-shirts, skirts, or leggings are all acceptable. Opt for clothing that doesn't restrict your movements, but ensure it's not overly loose so the instructor can observe your body movements accurately. Costumes are also welcome. During performances, traditional outfits will be provided to students, allowing us to showcase the rich culture of Ethiopia.
what kind of shoes do i need?
Shoes are crucial for a dancer. You can wear sneakers or other comfortable shoes. Please try not to wear the same shoes you have worn outside. If you must, make sure to wipe them thoroughly.
At what point will I feel comfortable with the dances?
At the beginner level classes, you will learn five fundamental traditional dances: Amharigna, Tigrigna, Oromigna, Guragina, and Welaytigna. New students will start at the beginner level, and based on their performance, they will progress to the next level. You can then continue your learning journey at the intermediate and advanced levels, which will include more than the initial five basic dances.
The key to success lies in practice. The more you dance, the more confident and enjoyable it becomes! Don't hesitate to seek help from more experienced dancers. Dancing is a social hobby, and seasoned dancers are enthusiastic about assisting and welcoming new faces on the dance floor.
