WE NEED YOUR HELP
Join Us in Building a Brighter Future through Your Support and Compassion. Together, We Can Foster Change
Federal and Provincial Funding
Our work is made possible through the generous support of the Federal Government, the Province of Manitoba, the province of Ontario ,corporations, foundations operational funding, and contributions from private donors. This collective support enables us to design and deliver inclusive, culturally responsive programs that empower children, youth, families, and newcomers in our community.
With this funding, we are able to provide access to education, cultural programming, recreational activities, and essential community services that promote wellbeing, skill development, and social connection. It also allows us to create safe and welcoming spaces where individuals can learn, grow, and build a strong sense of belonging.
For more than 15 years, Ethio-Canadian Cultural Academy Inc. (ECCAI) has been committed to strengthening communities by supporting children, youth, women, and newcomer families
through education, cultural programs, mentorship, and humanitarian initiatives.
Through community partnerships, volunteer leadership, and culturally responsive programs, ECCAI continues to create opportunities that empower individuals and promote social inclusion across Canada.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our partners, funders, and supporters whose continued commitment and belief in our mission make this work possible. Together, we are building
stronger communities, creating opportunities, and shaping a brighter future for the next generation.

GOVERNMENT GRANT
We anticipate facing significant challenges with funds in achieving our goals and ensuring the program's success. One of the fundamental issues we foresee is the limitation of resources, placing strain on personnel.
Ideally, we require more positions to oversee various aspects of the program, such as instructors and training space, to accommodate additional student roles that would be necessary for the positions. The workload could be overwhelming for a few individuals, potentially compromising the quality of program delivery.
This includes vital resources like rental spaces, equipment, software, and materials. Insufficient funding in these areas might hinder our ability to provide participants with the best possible experience.

ECCAI offers coordinated support to a friendly community organization network for immigrant youth aged 15 to 30 who are seeking employment, specifically focusing on vulnerable youth in Winnipeg and Toronto facing multiple and complex barriers. Our organization delivers a program designed to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit in students aged 15 to 30 who are returning to school in the fall. It is a full-time paid employment program crafted to connect individuals to the workforce.
New immigrants, particularly immigrant youth who are out of work or out of school, often face challenges in securing and maintaining employment. ECCAI's summer job program provides opportunities for new immigrants and minority youth to enhance their potential for entrepreneurship. Through guidance, idea development, detailed business plans, and a commitment to success, our organization assists students in gaining hands-on training, financial support, and the chance to discover if they possess the qualities needed to become successful entrepreneurs.
ECCAI promotes youth participation in art and culture while being tireless advocates for women's rights. ECCAI's art and cultural education initiative is an equity, diversity, and inclusion workforce development program designed for minority and immigrant youth aspiring to pursue careers in the creative industries. The program aims to establish inclusive and representative career paths for racialized youth. Our art education initiative was developed in collaboration with the Winnipeg School Divisions and Toronto Neighborhoods in the City of Toronto.
Traditional Cooking Lessons
for
Adopted/Canadian Parents

ECCAI also offers traditional cooking classes to Canadian parents of children adopted abroad, aiming to educate them on the unique dietary needs of their children We offer Traditional Cooking Lessons designed to help adopted children and Canadian families connect with cultural heritage through food. These hands-on sessions introduce participants to authentic recipes,
cooking techniques, and the cultural stories behind each dish.
Participants explore a variety of traditional cuisines, including Ethiopian and Eritrean dishes such as injera, doro wat, and lentil stews, as well as African and Afro-Canadian-inspired meals, and other multicultural recipes that reflect the diversity of our community.
Parents gain practical cooking skills while developing a deeper understanding of their child’s cultural background. At the same time, children experience a sense of pride and connection to their heritage. The program creates a welcoming space for shared learning, cultural appreciation, and meaningful family bonding.
Through food, families build stronger relationships, celebrate diversity, and develop a lasting sense of belonging within both their home and the wider community.
