CULTURE AND CLOTHING
Woven cotton forms the foundation of the Ethiopian traditional costume. Referred to as gabbi or Netella, both Ethiopian men and women don this attire. Women frequently opt for dresses (Kemis) and netella adorned with borders featuring vibrant, embroidered woven crosses, although alternative designs are also prevalent. In the south and west of the country, various ethnic groups and tribes showcase distinct costumes that echo their individual traditions. While some tribes opt for partial body coverage with leather, others embrace a more minimalistic approach, choosing not to wear clothing but adorning their faces and bodies with unique images.
